M07 – Synchronous Online Teaching with CSUSB Students (July 11-13)

Welcome to Synchronous Online Teaching with CSUSB Students!  We are releasing this early so you can familiarize yourself with this information over this weekend. Every day of this module is extremely important.  Please carefully review the details below, most of which were sent to you via email on the afternoon of Thursday, July 7th.

Monday, July 11

Your PMG will either teach or observe today.  Whether you are teaching or observing, remember that you should be in the appropriate room at least 30 minutes prior to the actual start of the session, so that means you should access the assigned Adobe Connect room at 1:00 pm PT.  The activities for this day will be repeated tomorrow.  Please review the following information as soon as possible:

Teaching and Observing:  Consult this document for when you will teach and when you will observe. Look for the name of your group to access this information here:  Peer Microteaching Groups (Links to an external site.).

Observers: Please make sure you have downloaded and opened the Comprehensible Input Feedback form (Links to an external site.) in Adobe Acrobat Reader prior to the begin of CSUSB microteaching. You will use this form to provide feedback to the PMG you are observing. You will save your completed document on your hard drive immediately after the session ends and then share them via the “Feedback Folder” link that appears under the name of the PMG group you observed on the Peer Microteaching Groups Page. For example, if you observed PMG 1- Chinese, then look for PMG 1- Chinese on the page, then click on the Feedback Folder link for that group to share your feedback with that group: Peer Microteaching Groups. (Links to an external site.)

The name and number of the group you are observing is listed after the room color on your observation day. AR=Arabic and CH =Chinese. Persian is written out fully. So, for example, Arabic PMG 1 is observing on July 12 in the Orange Room and the group they are observing is Chinese PMG1.

PMG 1- Arabic
Tuesday, July 12 – Observation Day
Adobe Connect Room:  Orange, CH PMG1

Observers, please remember your job is to observe and not to engage with the teachers or students. A staff member will be in each room to provide assistance as needed.

Link to your Adobe Connect room: Since we will all be teaching at the same time each day, each group will have an assigned Adobe Connect Room. It is EXTREMELY important that you access the appropriate room according to whether you are teaching or observing. This information is also located on the same document: Peer Microteaching Groups (Links to an external site.)

Test Your Equipment: As always, remember to run the Audio Setup Wizard in Adobe Connect to ensure your microphone and webcam are functioning properly. Make sure you are in a space that is free of background noise. Ensure that anyone in your environment is aware that they should not disturb you during your teaching or observing. If you are observing, it is critical that you mute your microphone.

Tuesday, July 12

As indicated above, the details for today are the same as for Monday, with the important distinction that if you were teaching yesterday, you will observe today, and if you observed yesterday, you will teach today!

Wednesday, July 13

Submit your Comprehensible Input Feedback form (Links to an external site.) to the appropriate Feedback Folder of the group you are observing before 11:59 pm.  The Feedback Folders of each group appear just underneath the name of the group, located on the Peer Microteaching Groups (Links to an external site.) document.

We look forward to participating in this unique growth experience with you!
