Welcome to Module 3! (June 25-27)

The focus of Module 3 is Comprehensible Input, including staying in the target language at least 90% of the time and checks for understanding.

This module will give you extensive opportunities to learn the best practices of designing comprehensible for language learners and also strategies for staying in the Target language. This module starts on June 25 and ends on June 27. During this module, you will also participate in the a synchronous Web Conference to be held on June 27 at 5:30 p.m. PT / 7:30 p.m. CT / 8:30 p.m. ET. You won’t want to miss this webinar with special guest instructor Christine Lanphere, the 2007 ACTFL National Language Teacher of the Year. Please mark your calendars for this date and time! You will receive an email announcement on the morning of the Web Conference with the URL for this live session, which will be held in the web conference platform, Adobe Connect.

  • I can design comprehensible input for my learners.
  • I can ensure that at least 90% of what I say and/or materials I share with my students are in the target language.

3.5 – Module 3, Lesson 2Now you will have a more in-depth teacher video that provides more concrete guidance on designing comprehensible input.Before section 3.6
3.6 – Guided PracticeIn this activity, you will articulate deeper understandings regarding the purposeful design of comprehensible input, in the target language, with checks for understanding.Before section 3.7
3.7 – Independent practiceFinish Learning Episode 1 on your Learning Plan Template (you started it in Module 2).By midnight on June 27! 
3.8-Guest Instructor WebinarGuest instructor Christine Lanphere (ACTFL National Teacher of the Year 2007) will provide a special lesson outlining strategies for remaining in the target language.June 27 at 5:30 pm Pacific / 7:30 pm Central / 8:30 pm Eastern.
3.9 – Asynchronous language lesson samplesIn this activity, you will select two asynchronous lesson samples to watch, along with an activity to help you reflect on and apply what you noticed in the video lessons. You will find lessons in French, Persian, Chinese and Arabic for you to choose from (you are required to view two of them).By the end of the day, June 27.
