In this optional activity, you will view a video that provides an overview of the backwards design process and use of ACTFL-NCSSFL Can-Do statements and relates them specifically to the work you will do in designing your programs for your learners. This optional lesson is provided for those who would like more support with the backwards design model of instructional design and the selection and communication of learning targets. If you do not need more support in this area, you can feel free to skip this activity.

  2. Scroll to the first video, labeled “Stage 1.”
  3. Watch the video.
  4. Take the “Check for Understanding Quiz” located underneath the video on the link below. Don’t worry: the quiz is designed to provide you with feedback after each question so that you not only know whether your response was right or wrong, but exactly why.
